Publications by ACFR Reconsidering EU Immigration policies towards Albania: Smoothing Asymmetries, ACFR, Tirana, 2010 (This publication was made possible through the financial support of
the SOROS foundation). EU migration policy towards Albania has been diversified in different aspects, moving from the early restrictive policies of closing the borders and punishment to
policies of short-term visa facilitation and liberalization, with the latter going on a very slow motion. Given the Albanian migration context
and improvements on combating ‘illegal migration’ the imperative
rest on speeding ‘legal migration’ through visa liberalization process
and a view towards a more comprehensive approach on linking
migration policies to issues of development issues which will be
beneficial for both EU and Albania.
Elections and electoral administration in Albania, ACFR, Tirana, 2011 (The research-study is carried out by Albanian Council on Foreign Relations with the contribution of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in the framework of the project “Electoral Parties, electoral systems and elections administration; in search of accountability”). "Elections and Electoral Administration in Albania ” present an overall framework of what have been done until now on the electoral processes and administration in Albania. It gives an orientation to all the interested groups about the electoral processes, electoral participations and citizens orientation during the 20th year of pluralism, electoral legal framework and electoral administrations; and gives recommendation on electoral processes and their administrations.
"Policy Paper on "Elections, money and democracy; How to increase the financial transparency of Albanian political parties", is carried out by Albanian Council on Foreign Relations with the support of the Unites States Embassy in Tirana, through the Small Grants Program of Commission for Democracy.

Forum on Foreign Policy: Remarks by U.S. Ambassador Alexander A. Arvizu at the Albanian Council on Foreign Relations Forum on Foreign Policy: Foreign Policy Forum with H. E. Mr. Edmond Haxhinasto, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Mr. Haxhinasto addressed the Albanian Council on Foreign Relations (ACFR) on 20th of December 2010. After thanking the organizers for making such a gathering possible in the series of the forum on Albania’s foreign policy, He stressed out that the foreign policy has to remain solid, principled, showing mature flexibility and rely on the reality in a world characterized by an accelerated globalism and a multifaceted inter-dependency, where the dynamics of development become extremely rapid and complex. The accession to NATO, the visa liberalization, the tangible progress in the process of joining the EU, the contribution to peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the contribution in the global fight against terrorism have their bearing on Albania’s new profile.H. E. Mr. Haxhinasto concluded that ”we shall reinforce the analysis and prognosis capacities in the diplomatic service, engaging in this process all think – tanks and prominent personalities from the civil society”. ------------------------------- “NATO, Albania and Security Issues in the Region” The Albanian Council on Foreign Relations in cooperation with the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organized on June 22nd, 2010 the conference on “NATO, Albania and Security Issues in the Region”. The keynote speaker of the event H.E. Mr. Arben Imami, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Albania, discuss about security issues in the Balkans as well as the importance of NATO and the Albanian contribution as a new NATO member state, in contributing to further security, peace and stability in the region (See more in Ministry of Defence) |
