About us
Established in March 2009 as an independent membership organization with departments of research, training and publishing, the Albanian Council on Foreign Relations constitutes an already affirmed institution with a voice in opinion-making in the Albanian public sphere. The Council serves as an information, counseling and expertise body for its members, governmental representatives, business entrepreneurs, academia, religious institutions, civil society, media and students in order to enhance the understanding and treatment of foreign policy and international relations issues.
ACFR strives to play an active role in shaping policy, developing critical thinking, strengthening and intensifying interaction with multilateral organizations involved in political matters and/or foreign affairs.
The Albanian Council on Foreign Relations does not carry any official function or responsibility related to Albania’s state foreign policy. However, it serves as a space for the development and strengthening of Albanian academic perspectives in international relations, including dialogue with international academic circles, preparation and qualification of experts in those institutions engaged with issues of international relations, democracy and rule of law, defense and security, as well as constructive influence and enrichment of the policy-making process of the country’s foreign policy.
